Blackie

Blackie and his late mate Penny came to IPPL in 1984. They had been in research for over two decades and were the parents of Shanti. Penny passed on in 2006 when around 50 years of age. Blackie is still extremely active and does not look old at all. He is as good an acrobat as many gibbons half his age! Blackie loves playing with North the Newfoundland dog. Blackie is deaf, but he sings along with the other gibbons. Old gibbons seldom look old, because they have thick fur and are always exercising!
