Adopt a Gibbon

Elsa & Nicholas

Nicholas Gibbon was born on 18 April 1987 and reached IPPL on April 28, 1993. John drove to Peoria, Illinois, to collect him. Poor Nicholas had been sent from Peoria to another zoo and was sent back, maybe because he had an eye condition called entropion that caused his cornea to become irritated and might need surgery. Nicholas was housed in an off-exhibit area with birds of prey. The zoo didn't have the right capture equipment so catching Nick was a three-ringed circus! When he reached IPPL, an ophthalmologist from the local medical college came to look at his eyes and offered to do surgery if the condition flared up again. Fortunately, the entropion has never returned. Nicholas lives with Elsa and they make a very good-looking couple though Elsa is camera-shy! Nicholas has a lovely beige coat and broad handsome face.
