Adopt a Gibbon

Louie-Louie & Michelle

Louie-Louie reached IPPL in 1991 from a research foundation in Florida whose founder died. Unfortunately for Louie-Louie, the people who took control of the foundation decided to get rid of all its 100+ primates and focus solely on bats. These unwanted primates included Cleon and Clementine, very old gibbons who reached the foundation from a northern zoo. Both were lacking many fingers and toes due to frostbite and have since passed on.

Louie-Louie & Michelle

Louie-Louie, who was nine months old on arrival, now lives with Maui's former mate, Courtney's mom Michelle. Oddly, the tough Michelle has become very submissive to Louie-Louie and really loves him. They form a very affectionate couple.
