Shirley and Jane with names

Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, renowned ethologist, conservationist and founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, has been a friend of IPPL for decades. She and our founder, Shirley McGreal, have had a special relationship for over 50 years. Dr. Goodall became a member of IPPL’s Advisory Board in 1975 – just two years after IPPL was formed and remains a member today.

Through the years she and Shirley stayed connected. Countless articles have appeared in IPPL News regarding Dr. Goodall and her tireless and extraordinary work with chimpanzees and the environment. She also sent personal messages on special anniversaries of IPPL and the passing of Shirley in 2021.

This spring Dr. Goodall had scheduled events in Los Angeles, San Francisco Seattle and New York to share her insights for her 90th birthday before several celebrations in Canada. Named a UN Messenger for Peace in 2002, Dr. Goodall continues her work to preserve the natural world and its animals.

IPPL sends our warmest birthday wishes to Dr. Goodall as she celebrates this milestone year.
